Recognition for All

By Donna O’Toole

When you work in an industry where you’re constantly striving to get recognition for others, it could be easy to overlook your immediate team… not us!

We believe in recognising our whole team’s achievements and celebrating their success together.

After a very positive year with numerous highlights, it was time to get together and reflect on what had been accomplished – all of this since becoming part of Dent Global in 2021:

  • Our team doubled in size to 14, and is still growing
  • We moved to a fantastic new office with separate presentation room for all our exciting online events and recordings
  • We won new business with exceptional new clients globally including entrepreneurs, scale-ups and world-leading brands
  • We launched new industry-leading assets, packages and Donna published her game-changing book WIN!… watch this space for the launch!
  • And, most importantly of all, we supported our clients to be recognised for their achievements by WINNING more prestigious awards than ever!

Our much-anticipated team day was well worth the wait…

An Inspirational Start

First, we started with a two-hour training workshop that was led by Donna at Dent Global.

Taking place at the countryside setting of Petersfield, this exciting session saw us locking horns, having a dance-off (not literally) and providing inspirational ideas to keep us at the top of our game.

A Glorious Evening

Next, it was time to get dressed up and let our hair down at Goodwood Racecourse for an evening of horse racing and hospitality at this stunning West Sussex venue overlooking the South Downs.

A Musical Climax

Finally, as the sun set on a thoroughly enjoyable day out, the lasers and sound system burst into life in the Racecourse’s Parade Ring, and we danced the night away to the tunes of top DJ, Annie Mac.

All in all, a fantastic shared experience with our winning team!

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise

By Donna O’Toole

This week, we’ll come together to celebrate a quite remarkable anniversary: The Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

In addition to spending 70 years on the throne, The Queen has had the sole right of conferring titles of honour on deserving people from all walks of life, in public recognition of their merit, service or bravery.

QUEEN’S HONOURS

Honours recipients are announced twice a year, as follows:

The most well-known honours are MBEs, OBEs and CBEs, but there are a whole range of other honours that The Queen awards in addition to these, such as The Order of Merit, or The Order of St Michael and St George.

Olympic cycling legends Laura and Jason Kenny (below) recently received tandem royal honours at Windsor Castle. Dame Laura, a five-time Olympic gold medallist, received her damehood from the Duke of Cambridge alongside Sir Jason, a seven-time Olympic gold medallist, who was awarded a knighthood.

THE QUEEN’S AWARDS FOR ENTERPRISE

The Queen’s Awards are designed to recognise only the most exceptional businesses in the UK, and there are considerable benefits that come with receiving this award.

Each and every winner will have met the rigorous criteria and proved their worth in one (or more) of four different categories. In the most recent list, a total of 232 outstanding UK businesses were given the royal stamp of approval.

REVEALED: The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise Winners 2022

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise

By Donna O’Toole

The 2022 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise winners have been announced!

On the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s 96th Birthday, 232 outstanding UK businesses have been given the royal stamp of approval and received the world’s most prestigious business award.

Many congratulations to all the winners across the four categories:

  • 141 International Trade winners
  • 51 Innovation winners
  • 9 Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility) winners
  • 31 Sustainable Development winners

This year’s winners include West Sussex-based World of Books, who were awarded both the Queen’s Award for International Trade and Sustainable Development. An online book retailer with customers in 175 countries, they sell 12 million used books each year. What’s more, they support 4,400 UK charity shops through the purchase of surplus stock, as well as recycling books and other media that cannot be reused.

4 Mental Health – an organisation in Conwy that provides mental health training courses and free self-help resources – was awarded a Queen’s Award for International Trade, after seeing overseas training increase considerably from 2018 to 2021, to a point where it now represents nearly half of all their activity.

Pearson Engineering also saw a huge rise in overseas activity between the same three-year period – especially in the USA, Canada and South Korea. As a provider of equipment to the Armed Forces, their work ensures that armoured vehicles can become more capable when on the battlefield.

A social enterprise that delivers workshops to teach sustainable reuse and repair skills was recognised for the work they’ve done in reducing pollution and emissions. The Edinburgh Remakery received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

The Queen’s Awards are designed to recognise only the most exceptional businesses in the UK. Each and every winner will have met the robust criteria and proved their worth. This is a remarkable achievement at any time – but especially in these challenging times – and it is fantastic to be able to celebrate British business strength and resilience.

Winners are permitted to fly The Queen’s Awards flag at their main office and use the emblem on their marketing materials. They are also given a Grant of Appointment (an official certificate) and a commemorative crystal trophy. Awards are valid for a five-year period.

REGIONAL WINNERS

Winners represent every region of the UK and the numbers are relative to the entrants. Every year there are calls for more businesses outside of London and the South East to enter. Where would you fit into this list of the 12 different regions?

  • 37 winners from London
3 Innovation, 26 International Trade, 2 Promoting Opportunity, 6 Sustainable Development
